WEIGHT LOSS
Pudgy, tubby, or downright fat. Regardless of what you call it, an overweight pet is a medical problem waiting to happen. Just like humans, overweight pets are more likely to develop serious illnesses and die younger than their trim counterparts. And we're not just talking about obese pets here—every extra pound predisposes even slightly pudgy pets to things like diabetes, cancer, hip dysplasia, heart disease, and arthritis as they age.
At Scout's House, we'll create a comprehensive weight-management plan that's specially designed to help your dog or cat lose unwanted pounds safely. We'll calculate the daily caloric intake your pet will need to lose weight, provide you with nutritional information so that you can make the best food choices for her (including giving you the calorie counts of each of your pet's favorite foods), and we'll design and implement a personalized workout program that will enable your pet to shed extra poinds while building muscle strength. And because your pet's health is our highest priority, we'll monitor her heart and respiration rates—before, during, and after exercise—to ensure that she's working within the right intensity range and at the appropriate exertion level.
